Audrey loves horses. She occasionally will ask when we can have our own horse, and she always jumps at the opportunity to see and ride horses. So, when I received an email about an afternoon of riding and grooming for children ages 4-6, I jumped at the chance.
Horses Help is an organization in Phoenix that provides horse therapy for disabled children and adults. They partnered with Luke AFB to offer children of active duty military members the chance to work with horses for 2 hours (free of charge). On Sunday afternoon, Audrey had the opportunity to learn about horses, ride a pony, and learn to groom a horse. The set-up was so organized. The children were divided into small groups and teamed up with a Horses Help volunteer. They rotated through stations that included lessons, riding, arts and crafts, and grooming. Claire, Matt, and I got to watch, pet the animals, and explore the ranch. What a cool afternoon for our entire family! We are so thankful for organizations like Horses Help that reach out to the military community. It truly does make an impact.
