Reunited!

On Saturday, January 30th, Audrey and I welcomed Matt home from his deployment to Iraq!  Both of us were thrilled that Matt was returning.  We went to base early in the afternoon and waited for Matt's aircraft to arrive.  Audrey proudly wore her "Daddy is my Hero" shirt and waved her American flags as the aircraft rolled to a stop on the tarmac.  We were ushered inside as Matt and his fellow airmen cleared customs.  Audrey and I stood waiting and watching for Matt to appear, and within minutes, Audrey was pointing and shouting, "Daddy!  Daddy!"

I held Audrey as Matt approached, and she watched with glee as he came forward to give us hugs and kisses.  There was only a moment's hesitation on Audrey's part before she jumped into Daddy's arms.  She continued to look at him as if she wasn't sure he was really there, but before long, she was happily yelling, "Chase me, Daddy, chase me!"  Matt eagerly complied, and for the next 20 minutes, Audrey and Matt ran around outside of the deployment processing center, getting reacquainted through a game of chase!

Our hearts are filled and we are so happy to be reunited as a family once more.  Matt has some time away from work and we are spending our days playing with Audrey and just enjoying each other.  I am so proud of Matt and the other airmen who sacrificed their time for our freedom.  Both Audrey and I could not be happier to have Matt home, though.  Nothing is quite the same when we are separated, and all of us feel complete now that we are together again!
