A Child's Perspective

Audrey walked up to me and asked if she could use my camera to take pictures.  I'll be honest.  My initial response was "no."  I didn't even think about it.  Grown up camera...for grown-ups.  Audrey has her own camera.  After taking a minute, though, I had to ask myself why I said "no".  We don't have a nice camera -- it's a six year old canon elph that has started taking bad pictures.  She LOVES taking pictures.  Capturing the beauty and wonder around her is one of her favorite things to do.  Why should I take that from her?  Who am I to stifle the creativity of my daughter?  I have struggled often with saying "no" -- simply because it comes to my lips without effort.  I don't want to say "no" to the things that can enrich her life.  Is using my camera dangerous?  No, not unless she decides to chuck it at Claire's head or something.  So, I find my little one playing in the other room.  I ask her if she still wants to use my camera to take pictures... "YES," she cries!  I remind her which button to push to take pictures and she's off... Snapping shots of anything that peaks her interest.  So, here are a few of her best shots...

(Claire says "cheese" for her sister)
