One of Those Days...

It's amazing how an entire day can go flawlessly, and then one small incident changes that tone...

Matt had the day off today, so we spent the day playing and enjoying the sunshine.  We finished the day with a trip to the park.  The dogs ran, Audrey played on the playground, and we picked up pizza on the way home.   As we're entering the house through the garage, Audrey knocks over Matt's pull up bar, which is sitting on the garage floor.  The entire thing is padded, and yet it somehow manages to slice Audrey's toe.  We carry her inside, careful not to let blood drip on the floor, and Matt grabs our first aid kit while I take Audrey to the bathroom to clean her toe.

The hydrogen peroxide is missing from the first aid kit.  Matt proceeds to wash Audrey's toe while I frantically search for the peroxide.  I can't find it.  Matt goes to look for it while I try to comfort Audrey.  He can't find it.  Audrey is not happy, so we think a warm bath might calm her down.  It usually works.  She cries and asks, "Mommy make it all better?  Mommy make Audrey's toe not hurt?"  How do I explain to a 2 year old that I can't heal her cut toe?

After a quick bath, I search for antibiotic cream.  It is also missing.  I did manage to find my antiseptic ointment in the first aid kit in my car.  We use it and get a band-aid on her toe.  Now it's pizza time.  For those of you who don't know me that well, pizza is one of my all time favorite foods, and yes, it can be a comfort food for me.  I haven't had the chance to teach this to Audrey yet, but it seems she somehow knows . We tell her it's time for pizza, and she looks at us and says, "Pizza make it all better."  Yes, Audrey, it will.  And we all smile.

Here are a few photos that we took on our trip to visit Matt's family.  We spent two days in Jupiter, FL, with Matt's mom, and two days in St. Cloud with Matt's dad and step-mom.

September in Review

We're nearing the end of another month, which is hard to believe.  We spent most of our time enjoying our new home in South Carolina and marveling at our daughter's growing vocabulary.  Her newest "fav" phrases are:  "Good idea!", "I wake up!", and "Here I go!" (usually followed by her jumping off of whatever she's managed to climb).

As Audrey is always on the go, we spend a lot of our time outdoors during the day.

Audrey is completely ready to go join in the races at the Sumter Speedway, but we're not sure that the Speedway is ready for her yet.

Audrey also tried to convince our lab, Buddy, to race around the yard with her, but he was too busy catching a few afternoon rays to notice a toddler on his back.

She did wear out after a romp around the living room in Daddy's boots, though.

We all enjoy the fall flowers in the backyard, although Audrey had to learn that once you pull off a flower, you cannot put it back.

It begins...

In the midst of naps, tree trimming, yard work, house cleaning, and the never ending pile of laundry from which I can never quite escape, I managed to find 10 minutes to set up this blog.  I owe a great deal of thanks to my friends and family who diligently post to their blog sites; they have been my inspiration.  Over the next few days, I plan to post again and add a few of our family photos to the mix.  I will warn you ahead of time that most of our photos focus on Audrey.  She's the cute one in the family, anyway.  Stay tuned for more.
