The CUBS!

Ok, so this is a hard post for me to write.  Those of you that know me well know that I grew up in Southeast Missouri.  That means I grew up breathing Cardinals baseball.  I must be honest...I can't claim to be an expert on pro baseball.  Not even a little bit.  But, that doesn't mean I don't love the Cardinals.  Audrey was even born as the Cardinals won the World Series in 2006!  I've tried to use this as an argument that our family should always cheer for the Cardinals, but this doesn't go over so well...
Guess which team my hubby claims as his own?  Yup.  The Chicago Cubs.  Sheesh.  It's been ongoing trash-talking since we first discovered our baseball differences... The Cubs? Really?
So, you can imagine how hard it was for me to not only learn that the Cubs were playing the Texas Rangers in a spring training game (only minutes from our house), BUT to also listen as Matt asked me to buy our family tickets so we could ALL go watch the Cubs play!  Grrrr... But, I do love my man. Unconditionally. In spite of his faults!  So, I picked up the tickets and our family ventured out for a Saturday afternoon at the Surprise spring training fields to watch the Cubs play the Rangers.
It's even harder for me to admit that I had a good time!  I DID NOT cheer for the Cubs.  I just couldn't go that far.  But, I managed to go to the game without dressing Claire in her Cardinals onesie (Matt said that was taking it too far...)  The day was perfect.  We had sunshine, a cool breeze, and lawn seats.  The girls enjoyed the hoopla, and Audrey got her first lesson in the game of baseball.  Matt even enjoyed chatting with a group of "groupies" that followed the Cubs around during their spring training stint in Arizona!  So, despite the difficulties of going to a Cubs game (for me), the day was a success!  (Especially for Matt, since the Cubs beat the Rangers 9-8).

Matt being a Cubs fan almost voids our heritage obligation to be on the same team.

Regardless, looks like you guys had a good time. I love baseball games! Wish we could come visit you guys... Arizona looks soooo inviting and we really miss all of you.
