Scorpion Surprise

     Yesterday, I saw my first live scorpion (outside of pet stores)...  In our backyard.  Matt was working on these planter fountains that were left by our landlords, and he started pulling rocks out of the planter.  He grabbed one rock and we both watched a bark scorpion scurry across the rock and on to the edge of the planter.  Thankfully, the girls were not nearby.  Matt saved the day by killing the scorpion (using a mallet)!  I'm not going to lie. I was a little freaked out.  These particular scorpions are pretty venomous, and they can do quite a bit of damage, especially if they sting a little one!  They also just look creepy.  Last night, Matt used our new "scorpion light" to search our house. (This is essentially a black light flash light).  He only found one scorpion in our block fence outside our house.  (Yes, we have a service that sprays for bugs, including scorpions).  Anyway, I snapped a picture of the once alive, now dead scorpion that was hiding in the fountain planter.  Yuk.
