We spent two days and two nights in Las Vegas over Presidents' Day weekend. Our friends, the Kawans, graciously opened their home to us. This worked out perfectly for us, as we not only had room to spread out, we also got to spend some quality time with some of the coolest people we know! We met the Kawans while we were stationed in Korea, and I'm always thankful when we get to see each other again. Our kids are also close in age, so the girls LOVED the Kawan's house.
We also got to see the Waldkirchs. The Waldkirchs are important people in our lives. We met them in South Carolina. They were our honorary commanders at Shaw AFB and our Life Group (bible study) leaders. They will always be our very dear friends! Kim and David had flown to Vegas for a conference, so we were able to spend time with them on Friday evening and over lunch on Saturday.
As an added bonus, we attended a birthday party of a friend on Sunday before we left town. Audrey and Claire bounced in bouncy castles, and we saw even more friends of ours from our time in Korea! Awesome!
In addition to our time with friends (which is why we drove up to Las Vegas), we did take the girls down to the Strip on Saturday. The Kawans spent the morning with us as we played in the Venetian, then we met friends for lunch. After lunch, Matt and I took the girls to see more sights, including a trip to the 3 story M&M world (which is really just a big store selling M&M paraphernalia). On our drive back to Phoenix, we also took time to drive over the Hoover Dam. Claire fell asleep, so she missed out on the sights and the pictures, but Audrey loved it. I loved it, too, as this was the first time I'd seen Hoover Dam!
