I was getting Audrey settled for her nap and climbed into bed with her. She told me she wanted to tell me stories so I could fall asleep. Here were two of her stories today:
"One time, Pa was walking through the woods when a bear came up and took his underpants! The bear took Pa's underpants and ran them up the flagpole." And then she laughs hysterically. "Wait, mommy. I have another story."
"One time, Gram was walking through the woods when a girl walked by. The girl just kept walking. Next, a giraffe came by and took Gram's underpants! Then a unicorn came along and the giraffe told the unicorn to run Gram up the flagpole. So the unicorn did. The unicorn ran Gram up the flagpole." More laughter.
I couldn't help myself. I laid there and laughed at both stories. I think she heard about running underpants up a flagpole on that Phineas and Ferb cartoon. In her second story about Gram, she just left out the underpants and had Gram up the flagpole! I don't even know if she knows what a flagpole is!
And don't worry. We talked about how it's not nice to run people's underwear up flagpoles. I mentioned it after her story about Pa, and she said, "I know it's not nice, mommy. I'm just telling stories about how mean people come along and run people's underpants up the flagpole!" Of course.
There was another story about Daddy's underpants in there, too, but his underpants were just stolen and run up a flagpole by some mean man (no animals involved). I'm going to start asking her for stories at every nap time!

I think that Audrey is going to be famous storyteller when she grows up. Or maybe an author...She is hysterical!!
