Daddy and Audrey's Date

The past two weekends, Matt and I have gone out on date nights.  When we're leaving, we always tell Audrey that mommy and daddy are going on a date.  This past weekend, as we were leaving, Audrey asked if she could have a date with just daddy and a date with just mommy.  Of course, we said, "Yes!"  Audrey asked, "Tomorrow?"  Time is still a hard concept for her, and days seem to run together in her little brain, but we assured her we'd each have a date with her soon.

So, this is a night week at work for Matt.  Last night, he flew late and got home later.  When Audrey came in to wake us up at 7 a.m., Matt told her that he'd get up soon and take her out on their date.  Audrey screamed and yelled, "I have to pick out my special date dress!"  She ran from the room then quickly came back and asked if I'd help her pick out a special dress for her date with Daddy.  After catching up on a few hours of sleep this morning, he got up and took Audrey out on their first, very special Daddy-daughter date!  And, yes, Audrey picked out a beautiful summer dress to wear.  Daddy and Audrey spent a morning having a special breakfast at I-Hop. (Don't laugh - we don't have many options in Sumter).  When they returned, she was so excited.  Apparently, she ordered Silly Face Pancakes and helped Daddy eat his omelet.  Both Audrey and Daddy loved their special morning together.

Audrey and Daddy ready to go on their date.

Audrey is so excited!
And this is actually a picture Audrey drew of Daddy - "with ears, hair, a mustache, and legs"!  (Audrey gives people and animals tons of legs "because they want to run fast".  So, I think it's great that Daddy has more legs than he does hairs in his mustache!)

They are so adorable! I'm so glad they had a chance to go on a date before Matt leaves. Looks like you guys have been enjoying all your family time and not taking any of it for granted, what a blessing!

I think daddy probably did have more legs than hair on his mustache. You have to admit, that thing wasn't pretty. :)
