You know, as I get older and listen to friends' and acquaintances' stories, I realize exactly how blessed by God I truly am. I had wonderful, loving parents who loved God and loved us (and loved us well). My dad sat with me, hugged me, read to me, played with me, coached me, taught me, guided me, and told me I was beautiful when I felt ugly. When my teenage years hit in full force and my self esteem plummeted, a few soft words from the mouth of my dad could melt away the trauma of any day or any bad thought I was allowing to corrode my mind. My dad is still one of my heroes. And I really do thank God for this tremendous gift...
So you can imagine my delight and joy in watching the man I love, my husband, father our little ones. Matt makes our daughters feel like princesses. He loves with words, actions, and attitudes. He truly sees our daughters, and he breathes life into them. Thankful is not a word that describes it. I am daily thanking God for this man that is writing love onto the pages of our daughters' hearts, because I (as a daughter who received such love from her own father) understand the value of such love.
And Matt had the chance to win a bit more of Audrey's heart this year when he took her to her first Daddy Daughter Dance & Dinner. We bought her a beautiful "twirly" dress and fixed her hair in curls. Matt wore his best suit and tie and bought mini-corsages for both girls. Then he took Audrey's hand and led her off on a special evening. Her words just as they left our house... "This is even more wonderful than I dreamed it would be!"

Erika, what a beautiful post! Audrey looked absolutely stunning. Lucky Matt...I know he had the most beautiful date at the dance. :-)
This is a very touching post! It brought tears to my eyes as I read it. Thank you Matt. You are an amazing father! Audrey and Claire are blessed to have you as their 'daddy' and we are blessed to have you as a son!
