Audrey loved every minute on our beach vacation. In fact, she spent the week prior to the trip "packing" (which included her princess outfits, "tappy shoes", and her purses and necklaces). She said she had to bring enough dress up clothes for all of her aunts and uncles! She loved our vacation so much that she woke up each morning at 6 a.m.! (Her normal wake up time is between 7 and 7:30 a.m.). We thought that she was waking up because of the sunlight streaming in the window, but she continued to wake up early even after we covered the windows. She just couldn't wait to start the day, go to the beach, and play with her wonderful aunts and uncles!
We spent a lot of time just relaxing on the beach. Audrey enjoyed hunting for shells and building sand castles. By the end of the week, she would go into the ocean with Daddy and help him jump over the swells and waves. My dad brought his kayaks from Missouri, so everyone also took turns kayaking. The guys all went fishing on two different days. Garrett (my brother) also rented two surfboards on our last full day, so the guys and my sister-in-law, Courtney, took turns surfing.
One day, Matt, Audrey, Stuart and Courtney, and I took a day trip to Ocracoke Island. The beach is consistently rated as one of the top beaches in America - 16 miles of undeveloped, almost deserted beach! It was gorgeous. The small Ocracoke village was also picture perfect, and we ate lunch overlooking the inlet. On another day, Matt, Garrett and Megan, and I drove up to Kitty Hawk and explored the area where the Wright brothers made the first flight.
As usual, the vacation ended too quickly. I could have easily spent another week (or more) at the beach. It was also such a blessing to spend some quality time with my family. I only wish we lived close enough to spend more time together!

OMG, that little girl of yours is so freakin' cute! That picture of her eating ice cream looks like a child model. Congrats on the new addition!
