Fall Flower Festival

Matt left for his deployment yesterday, and we're trying to stay busy to help pass the time while he's away.

Audrey, my friend Meaghan, and I drove over to Florence, SC, to explore the Pee Dee State Fall Flower Festival.  We were really impressed!  From the moment we entered the open air barn, we were surrounded by pumpkins, beautiful flowers, fresh produce, and fresh baked goods.  I really enjoy fall, and after spending last fall in Korea, it was nice to be around the mums, pumpkins, and, yes, even the hay bales!

Audrey had a great time exploring the festival, too.  She climbed a few hay bales and sniffed a few flowers.  Her favorite part of the trip, though, was helping me pick out pumpkins.  She was particularly excited about the little "baby pumpkins", which she could easily pick up with her tiny hands. After conquering the littlest pumpkins, she began trying to pick up the larger pumpkins, testing her own strength. When she couldn't pick the pumpkin up, she opted to climb it! Eventually, she helped me pick out a few pumpkins to take back to our house.  After test driving a few John Deere tractors, we called it a day and returned home to enjoy our German baked goods and pumpkins.
